Trip reports

Trekking to Karatosh valley 2010

We started hiking after midday, crossed the swamp and came up to Bolshoy On river. During last trekking tours we crossed this small river without any problems, but now it was smposing stream. We crossed this river with care and nobody fall into water. After short rest we started climb to Kurukul pass. First impression of trekking in second half of June - lots of water, tiny brooks were everywhere and tourist trail was absolutely wet.

Trekking to Tuva 2009

We started hiking in the field near Chulcha river heading to the North. The weather was nice for walking, clouds floated in the sky and we moved pretty fast. Colours of the terrain were grey and yellow with green inclusions of the woods. We were in great plain with mountains on the horizon, and some summits were covered by snow. Flock of sheep grazed in the distance. There are only few houses of shepherds into this wilderness of Tuva.
Trekking to Kuznetsk Alatau 2009

In the morning we traversed along the steep ridge and started to walk down to Golden Valley through remote pass. There were big snowfields on slopes around us and we got the picturesque cirque with frozen lake in the middle. The sun was hot and it was interesting to feel ice under your feet.
Trekking to Posarym lake 2008

In three hours we've got to the Posarym lake. This basin has untouched environment and there are about one hundred visitors per season, that's why it's my favorite place in southern Siberia. On a mirror-like surface a couple of common loon was visible. Their loud and unusual cries are memorized easily. I decided to spend the night on a shore of lake out of tent and it was amazing experience!
Trekking to Posarym lake 2007

The sight from the top was tremendous, we were able to see many distant mountain ranges. From the one side we saw Tuvinian mountains of 3,000 metres or higher, on another side we saw notched peaks, and from the third side we saw smoothed mountains and many lakes - huge and tiny. Filled with energy we start downwarding.
