What to see:
Karatosh valley is one of the most beatiful and wild places in Siberia located in West Sayan mountains. There are conifer forests with high larches and highlands with low shrubs, waterfalls and lakes, fast rivers and small brooklets. Average heights of mountains are 1500-2500m. Highest points are Karatosh (2930m) and summit 2969m.
You can glimpse wildlife: goat, wildboar, deer, roe, crane, snowcock and sable.
What to do:
Hiking, fishing, learning to make a fire, setup a camp, path finding with compass and map.
We will start our trip on border of Khakassia and Tuva republics heading to the east. Posarym lake is in heart of wild Sayan ridge. We will stop there and make some radial hikes around the lake. You can hardly meet any visitors there, but the trails are excellent. There are'n any mosquitoes in august, but you can find some (or they can find you) in june and july.
How to get to Abakan
1. By plane from Moscow to Krasnoyarsk (4:30 hours, from 184 euros return-ticket. Airlines: Utair , Aeroflot) then by train or bus to Abakan (8 hours, 28 euros return)
OR by plane from Moscow to Abakan directly (Vladivostok avia)
2. By train from Moscow to Abakan (3 days, 184 euros return)
Features
You have to be fit enought to walk 6 hours a day and to be prepared for outdoor life.
We will cross two rivers (Ona and Karatosh) heading to Posarym lake.
You have to carry your personal stuff and part of group stuff.

Transfer Abakan - Abaza - start point of hike. While travelling we will go by steppes and hills. Start of the route is about border of Tuva and Khakassia. At first two hundreds meters we will cross some bogs and brooklets and start climbing to Kurukul pass. From this pass you can see Karatosh mountain mass and Kurukul valley Descent along Kurukul brooklet in the conifer woods with undergrowth of prairieweed.
